Spenser for Hire
Spenser for Hire is a mystery series which was inspired by Robert Parkerís ëSpenserí novels. Those who have watched and enjoyed it must already have purchased the Spencer for Hire DVD or the Spenser for Hire Bluray.
The title hero, Spenser, is a private investigator who lives in Boston. With each new episode, he gets involved in another murder mystery. As he has a natural talent for observation and reasoning, combined with years of experience, as well as occasional but reliable help from a friend, Hawk, the private investigator always cracks the case.
Spenser is the perfect private investigator - an honorable man who doesn't think twice when he needs to impose justice and even turn in his clients if they lie or are trying to use him. He is involved in a romantic relationship with Susan, a psychiatrist. Hawk is also a professional reliable partner in spite of his history who placed him on the side of the devil at times. Since he started working with Spencer however, he has become fairly moralistic.
Another character that Spencer can trust is Lt. Marty Quirk of the police department who also helps him once in a while. But Sgt. Frank Belson does not really appreciate his interference.
If the first season is dominated by Spencerís girlfriend Susan, in the second season we meet Rita Fiori (an assistant D.A.) in her place. However, in the third season, Rita vanishes and Susan returns. The mystery of the series very nicely intermingles with the title characterís romances and we can say it is a very entertaining show due to this.
Spenser is a former boxer so some might say he is too sophisticated for a private eye. Moreover, he has solid general knowledge and as he has read so much he is always able to impress with quotations form poetry. Another plus in his favor is the fact that he cooks extremely well and likes preparing really sophisticated recipes. And, like many detectives that we see on TV, Spenser drives a distinctive car, a í66 Ford Mustang.
If you miss Spenserís adventures, you had better buy a Blu-Ray and start watching the series again. It is very entertaining and sometimes very exciting for the whole family.
